The Outstanding Schools and Teachers Awards in Nature-based Education

The Outstanding Schools and Teachers Awards in Nature-based Education (“Awards”) aim to appreciate the excellent achievements of schools and teachers in implementing nature-based education, and to establish a sustainable platform for education leaders to exchange ideas. Through recognizing and sharing successful case studies, the Awards provide an incentive for schools to move away from ad-hoc, outsourced activities and invest in sustained, in-house, and curriculum-integrated models. This promotes the implementation of high-quality nature-based education within schools, so as to optimize subject teaching and learning. In addition, it facilitates values education to cultivate students' sense of environmental responsibility. Through connecting with nature, the Awards also enhance students’ physical and mental well-being.

The Awards have received strong support from more than 50 professional organizations, including The IUCN Commission on Education and Communication; Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Nature Education Development Center of Guangzhou; Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department; Hong Kong Aided Primary School Heads Association; New Territories School Heads Association; Hong Kong Association of Deputy Principals, various university departments, and major local environmental education organizations. The Awards carry high representativeness and recognition.
